Weekend Cancellation and Parking Update

Unfortunately we are forced to cancel the Bracket Weekend #4 event this weekend. Anyone that already signed up will be refunded in full.

We were asked by many of our racers to try this out while still operating under the state restrictions and we were very hopeful that it would fill up, but we did not receive enough entries to make it financially possible. Thank you to the people who volunteered their time to help organize this and assist with the track prep. We also thank those who registered for their continued support during these times. Trust us when we say that we want nothing more than to be back to hosting races – we miss all of our racers and fans, including the Canadians stuck up north!

2020 Powered Parking Reservations

If you have paid for a powered parking spot reservation this year, your reservation for your chosen spot will automatically roll over to the 2021 season. Remaining races in 2020 will be paid per event because the season has been so short. If you’d prefer to receive a refund on your season parking reservation and forfeit the spot instead of rolling it to next year, please email us.

Onward with Drag Racing

We’re ready to get back to drag racing at Interstate Raceways! We’ll be having our first drag race weekend of the year on July 25th and 26th. While the track will be opening, it will not be business as usual. In accordance with Minnesota’s Stay Safe Plan, we need to limit the event to 250 people including track staff. No spectators will be allowed and we’re limiting the field to 80 drivers.

2020 Event Format Changes

Due to the shortened season, we will not be running the Bracket Points series this year and the originally scheduled SRD Shootout for this date has been cancelled. We apologize to our heads-up racers that planned to attend this event. Instead we’ll be running races in the Gambler format: show up, race your heart out, and win a fat check!

The details are live on the weekend event page: http://interstateraceway.com/event/2020-bracket-weekend-4/

Here are the dates for the rest of our drag race weekends. Only one event moved since we’re trying to stick with the schedule posted in January.

  • Bracket Weekend #4: July 25-26
  • Bracket Weekend #5: Moved to the new date of Aug 8-9 from the old date of Aug 22-23
  • Bracket Weekend #6: Sept 12-13
  • Bracket Weekend #7: Oct 10-11

Registration and Admission

Online registration is required to attend this event in order to minimize cash transactions and maintain social distancing. Registration will open on July 17th at 9am Central: https://events.eventzilla.net/e/july-2526-gamblers-races-2138796142

The cost to participate for this event is $250 for drivers and $25 per crew member for the weekend. We are not doing single-day or single-race packages. Racers must register for the entire weekend.

We understand that this may be more than racers are used to paying at Interstate Raceway, but our goal was to find a way to balance and meet the needs of both the racers and the track with these events. We understand racers want to race, and this is one way that the track can open with the current restrictions put in place by the state of Minnesota. We look forward to seeing everyone on July 25 & 26!

A Note Regarding ET Finals

In years past, many of our bracket racers have participated in points weekends to qualify for ET Finals in Topeka. This year, if Topeka does host a Divisional event this year, it would require a racer to have obtained two tech cards from an NHRA track throughout the season to be eligible to sign up with a NHRA track’s team and attend. The NHRA has allowed us to use these Gambler races to allow racers to obtain the necessary tech cards.

Weekend Recap and Upcoming DTP #2

Weekend Recap: Drifting 101/102

This past weekend was fantastic with a fresh batch of newbies learning to drift and working on their vehicle control in the Drift 101 and 102 courses. We saw some fantastic improvement with a few spills here and there, but overall it was a great session. You guys are quick learners!

Our next Drift 101/102 event is in late September: http://interstateraceway.com/event/2020-learn-to-drift-101-102-3/

Upcoming Weekend: Drifting the Plains #2

This weekend we’re hosting the second(ish) Drifting the Plains event of the year. Originally this was DTP #3, but due to a certain pandemic the numbers slid around on the calendar. It’ll be a big weekend for burning tires with style runs and tandem competition.

Check out the full event details on the Schedule page: http://interstateraceway.com/event/2020-drifting-the-plains-2/

Drivers: We still have some open slots available for registration. Get out of your garage and onto the track to have some fun. It’s $125/day or $200 for the weekend.

Spectators: It’s $15/day, paid at the gate when you arrive.

2020 Drag Racing

The next drag racing event is July 25-26. This event hasn’t moved since we posted the original schedule in January, so your calendar should already be good to go. Our event format will be changing significantly, so look for a follow-up post with those details this evening.
